My Dearest Love,
Forty Two days have now passed since you were in my arms and I fear forty three is just a sunrise away. The boys and I remain intact and free from serious injury, although Pvt Biddle has developed nasty rash, which causes him to walk some what perculiar!
We have been reassigned to Recon group and the C.O. is I feel somewhat incompetent. His mission planning leaves much to be desired, he acts on inadequate intel reports and fails to see the wider picture. He seems to be hell bent on impressing the Brass and gaining Promotion opportunitys.
I am being sent on a mission this very morning which I fear is ilconceived, poorly planned and could potentially cost many lives, namely mine!
My squad are unaware of my reservations towards the C.O and I intend to keep it that way as morale is high and Pvt. Biddle continues to entertain them!
So threat not my love, I remain vigilent and cautious in the face of adversity, never forgetting my one true objective, to taste your sweet lips again.
Forever Yours.
Jack Carter XXXXXX
Good Morning Captain Carter, this mornings briefing is somewhat lengthy, so I have broken it down into the following catergories:-
- Go to the THEATRE UPDATE.
- Receive your MISSION ORDERS.
- Go to SUPPORT.
And in summary here are your objectives:-
1.Bravo RECON. Establish contact with Bravo RECON.
2.Village of Petrov. Secure and Hold Petrov.
3.HILL 468. Advance on Hill 468, Secure and await further orders.
THEATRE UPDATE
.
NATO advances in South Kolgujev continues to be extremely fluid. All ports in the south have been liberated and are tactically linked.
Soviet Forces have taken heavy losses and continue to retreat to the north.
SITUATION REPORT.
1930H 12/07/85.
Bravo Recon were ordered to
establish a forward O.P (observation point) on Hill 468.
RECON BASE have been unable to raise Bravo since insertion and no SIT.REP has been received.
INTEL.
Aerial Photography cannot establish any decernable threat near Hill 468. Infrared continues to be unreliable due to the numerous Hot Springs which eminate around this area.
NOTE: Soviet base 2km East of Hill 468 has recently been abandoned after NATO airstrike 09/07/85.

SUPPORT
.
MISSION ORDERS
.
Primarily your mission is to re-establish contact with Bravo Recon. However, as you can appreciate the village of Petrov
and in particular Hill 468 carry an important strategic advantage.
This is the only central route through the mountains that leads north. If we can take this corridor before our main forces arrive we may shorten the war by weeks!
It is unfortunate that no solid Intel has been returned by Bravo, but I feel sure any resistance that they have encountered could only be a small rear guard action which has probably already withdrawn.
So in short Captain, I want you to:-
Hold the village of Petrov.
Eradicate any threat that remains on Hill 468
As you can see from the support which I have allocated to this mission it should emphasize to you the importance of its success.
The Naval barrage has already been given the target coordinates of Hill 468 and simply await your order should you require it.
GOOD LUCK JACK.
Back to the plan...
Well done Captain Carter!
Maybe next time soldier..If there is one
