We are going in the in second wave Bravo company took the beach and have secured it. They took a lot of casualties; an AA missile took out one of their black hawks before they even got to the beach. It could have been worse though there are several wrecked Shilkas on the beach, their ammo is still cooking up; I think the SEALS were here early this morning thank god. Then they had to contend with the FOb's (Forward Observers) in the Beach area; I think Jed was in one of the APC's that was taken out, Babcock is now in charge of Bravo he has moved them out to our right flank behind a cliff to recover. There are some more FOb's  on the small  hill above the beach and they may have started filtering back towards the beach. I need to devise a safe way to take them out without exposing my troops above the ridge.
Bravos black hawks are refueling back on that enemy base that the British Third Para's took in the wee small hours this morning. The Colonel has leant me his observation chopper while Bravo's choppers refuel . There was also a great big explosion in a little island in the bay about the same time, more good work by the good old US SEALS I think.
I am going in with Delta company first and second platoons as well as some of thirds APC's. Third platoon; our heavy weapons, our support platoon, our 55mm mortars and our soft skinned vehicles; will be in the next wave along with some more ammo. They will land at the headland but they still have to cross the beach area to move up so I must get rid of the FObs before I call them up. We have a big task ahead of us; to take Saint Marie Hill.

Orders

Your company Delta, will start here. Bravo company are here and are in no state to help you.

You are to immediately clear any FOb's (Forward Observers) on the small hill  in front of you position. Once you have occupied that hill you will be inside the minimum range of the enemy artillery. You must prevent enemy troops from coming into the forward areas near the beach as they will be able to spot for the enemy artillery.

You must take Sainte Marie Hill  the enemy artillery is in prepared positions on the reverse slope. Intel thinks we have one and a quarter to one and a three quarter hours to clear them off the hill before a sizable counterattack sweeps round the hill and takes out the beach heads.

Intel

We have an estimated one and a quarter to one and a three quarter hours before a sizable counterattack sweeps round the hill and takes out the beach heads. We need that hill to spot any counter attack and to call down naval barrages on it.
BEWARE we are receiving reports that the enemy artillery has the entire area south west of Sainte Marie Hill zeroed and there is a heavy enemy presence there. They probably have the area to the North zeroed as well. Both areas are Designated Free Fire for NATO air units and you should not enter them. Bravo Reports seeing enemy troops filtering back toward the beach both snipers and FObs.

There are reports that: the enemy has an effective distributed radio jamming system that can severely affect strategic command and control marker placement in the Tac radio map system. In case some strategic control is lost you should be aware of these possible actions as you approach large concentrations of enemy troops:

1     If you zoom into the map localized signals are boosted and messages are more likely to get through.
2     If you loose Tac radio marker placement. You should place troops in form line mode preparatory to main attack, then advance as a company. This process can be repeated as required. It will allow you to maintain control and cohesion of forces.
3     You should also place the artillery strike marker on the most promising enemy location and leave it there.

Situation

We have had a hard time taking this beach. The enemy has artillery dug in the reverse slope of Sainte Marie Hill. Bravo has cleared the FOb's (Forward Observers) in the immediate area of the beach but there are more on the small hill to the west south west and they are already filtering back down to the beach. The minute anyone pokes their head over the ridge in front of the beach the whole beach gets a dose of heavy artillery. The Royal Marine Commandos on Landing Beach AXE and Landing Beach MACE are being chopped to pieces down there, and Intel tells us we have one and a quarter to one and three quarter hours  before a sizable counterattack sweeps round the hill and takes out the beach heads. so it is imperative you get a move on. We have already tried an air attack on the hill we lost four planes. The hill is studded with  AA and SAMS.

Mission

You are second wave. The whole attack is stalled due to heavy enemy artillery. All the RRF (Rapid Reaction Force) troops are stuck on the beaches. Get the initiative back.

Clear any FOb's (Forward Observers) on the small hill overlooking the beach and prevent them returning to the beach area.

Devise a hasty attack and take Sainte Marie Hill. you may have as little as one and a quarter hour before a sizable counterattack sweeps round the hill and takes out the beach heads.

Support and Logistics

Your support and heavy weapons platoon  are to go ashore at the headland to beach Lance with the third wave. You have one Naval bombardment of 2 salvos available to you; use it wisely, you have 3 naval smoke available. Your mortars are already ashore and will move up with the rest of the heavy weapons and support platoon.
