//SEB UH-1H Special Operations Helicopter (version 1) // By SelectThis 2 September 2002 This addon provides a new UH-1H helicopter for the west side. The model 205 UH-1H is a upgraded engine model of the UH-1D, and was one of the most common helicopters in the Vietnam conflict. It was also uses extensively after the Vietnam War by many different countries. The UH-1H in this addon is painted black for use with Special Forces. It is armed with a M60D machinegun on the left side (the right hand gun is in-operative). Installation: note: Installation is different for people with OFP: Resistance compared to the standard OFP. Requires OFP version 1_30 or higher. Extract the zip file into an empty folder. You will extract the following files: sebsfuh1h.pbo sebsfuh1hresfix.pbo ***OFP: Resistance If you run OFP: Resistance then copy both files into the Res/Addons folder. ***Normal OFP: If you DO NOT have OFP: Resistance then only copy the sebsfuh1h.pbo into the ofp\addons folder. Do not install the sebsfuh1hresfix.pbo as this will cause your ofp (version 1.46) to crash. If you experience muzzle flash errors then try disabling Hardware T&L. The Spec Forces UH-1H can be found in West\Air under the name SEB Spec Op UH-1H Please visit the OFP Editing Center for further updates and discussions of this addon. http://www.ofpec.com/default.asp *************Disclaimer:******************* This is NOT an official Addon. For bug reports email SelectThis at: w-chen@bigpond.net.au Background Reading: Quote from http://www.vectorsite.net/avhuey.html "The Model 205 became the Army's primary combat transport and medevac helicopter in Vietnam. The smaller Model 204 variants were generally assigned to the gunship role. The Army bought a total of 2,008 UH-1Ds. * The UH-1D led to the improved "UH-1H", which was generally similar, but was fitted with the more powerful T53-L-13 engine derated to 1,400 horsepower, as well as avionics for night and bad-weather operation, and a Decca radio navigation system. The UH-1H rolled off the manufacturing line in September 1967 and remained in production for 20 years. The US Army obtained a total of 3,573 UH-1Hs, and many remain in service, mostly with Army Reserve / National Guard units. They have been kept current with new avionics, improved composite rotor blades, countermeasures equipment such as chaff-flare dispensers and infrared jammers, and other updated gear." ------ While the Model 205's (UH-1D and UH-1H) were capable of lifting between 12-13 troops, the addition of armor, machineguns and the high humidity and operational altitudes encountered in Vietnam usually restricted their capacity to 7 or 8 troops. To better fit in with the OFP squad size of 12 Troops, I have made the carrying capacity for this addon 12 soldiers.
